When we hiked the Park Butte Trail last October this was the view of Twin Sisters to the northwest. We hiked under a cloud cover most of the way but the day began to clear as we hiked back out.

This past summer we had a family vacation near Tillamook, Oregon. We rented a large house on the Wilson River east of Tillmook and stayed there with eight adults and eight children. We spent several days at the beaches west of Tillmook and explored and hiked in the area south. This was taken in the area of Oceanside, Oregon, at Agate Beach, which can be reached through a tunnel from Oceanside Beach.

One of the place we visited on our trip to Oregon this past summer was Cape Meares State Park with its lighthouse and cliffs.

While staying in Crescent City, California, we drove south on a dull and foggy day to the area of Klamath where we explored the coast from the Coastal Road. This photo was taken at an overlook where we had our lunch.

While in northern California we stayed in Crescent City but drove from there to the Redwoods in Jedediah Smith State Park and in Del Norte State Park. One of those days we drove south following the Redwoods Highway and though it was very foggy climbed above the fog at one point and stopped for these photos.

After wandering the beach north of Cape Kiwanda we drove to the south side of the cape and to the beach at Pacific City where we watch the surf, the fishing dories coming in and the Pelicans fishing. The dories are launched from and come back in to the beach. Coming in they land at very high speed and run up on the sand. This one was coming in near the cape itself. These fishing dories have a long history at Pacific City. Most of them are now run as charters, but originally they were the city's fishing fleet and livelihood.

Taken on a morning of freezing fog, this barbed wire was loosely coiled around an old fence post and caught my eye as I was driving past. After turning around and stopping along the road, I was able to get some photos as well as a shoe full of snow.

I was out in the car on a very frosty and foggy morning several weeks ago and saw this fence post with the barbed wire wrapped around it so I turned around at the next crossroad and went back to get photos.

We had freezing fog and heavy hoarfrost the morning this was taken. I had noticed this from the car, turned around and stopped along the road for photos.

I took this down the road from where we live - stopped the car to take it just as the sun was beginning to break through the fog. This was a foggy and frosty morning, one of many we've had and the frost-covered Ponderosas were amazing, though this photo hardly begins to capture their beauty.

This was another photo taken near our home. I stopped the car to take a few photos on a morning when the frost had turned the Ponderosa Pines white. The sun was just breaking through the mist and fog when this was taken.

Taken near our home on a foggy winter morning, I had stopped to photograph the frost on the trees and fences and noticed these bales of hay in a farmer's field. Was disappointed with the photo when I got it home, however, but here it is anyway.

Just a few more snowshoeing photos, this one taken nearly two years ago while snowshoeing with family members on a very foggy day. The photo is not black and white, though in those conditions it appears to be so. Part of Table Mountain is just visible in the background.

I've many more pictures from our Alaska trip but thought I'd move on to some other things for while, especially some pictures from hiking with brother Tim. One of our hikes was to Lake Ann between Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan in the North Cascades. The day was so wet and foggy that we almost went back home after reaching the trailhead. In the end we decided to do the hike and though we saw little of the mountains and nothing of the lake, we had a wonderful day - the fog and rain lent a very special atmosphere to the hike.
