The Red-flowering Currant is one of our spring-blooming native shrubs. It was everywhere when we were on on Monday the 16th and both of use took too many photos of it.

The Red-flowering Currant, Ribes sanguineum, is not only a common shrub in our area but is often found as a garden plant. It grows from sea-level to very high elevations and is usually found in open woods. The berries, though edible, are tasteless.

Also used as a garden plant, this beautiful shrub is native to the Pacific Northwest. We found these growing in the woods at Sharpe Park, but had trouble photographing them in the wind that was blowing.
