We haven't had them in our yard, but these Turkeys live near our home. The photo was taken in the lane behind our home where we take our daily walks.

These were photographed near the place we stay in eastern Washington when we travel there every month. We see them often but do not always have opportunity to photograph them.

When we visit eastern Washington we often see a flock of wild Turkeys near the town of Medical Lake. This photo, taken a year ago, shows two of them, though the whole flock was about.

Some of the earliest spring bulbs to bloom, Chionodoxa or "Glory of the Snow" are related to Squills. There are about eight species native to Turkey, Crete and Cyprus, but they have also naturalized in different areas of western Europe. This, I believe, is Chionodoxa luciliae. I have so many pictures that I am going to start uploading several a day and hope I can keep up with the commenting. Please do not feel that you have to comment on all of them.

Sugar Creek

This is another photo of the area where we camped with family members this past summer. Sugar Creek flows through Turkey Run State Park in central Indiana, through an area of sandstone cliffs, canyons and beautiful woodlands. We spent time tubing, kayaking and swimming the river, which in the summer is quite shallow and slow, ideal for the children. The area is also notable for the many old covered bridges which cross this and other rivers. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2011/11/turkey-run-...

Tom Turkey

One of the highlights of our hike in the Ancient Lakes area of eastern Washington was not even part of the hike. As we were leaving in the car a tom turkey and two hens came down the road toward us. Every so often the tom would start strutting his stuff, but the hens seemed more interested in foraging and paid him so little attention that he finally gave up and went running past the car and further down the road. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2013/04/ancient-lak...
