This Willow leaf caught my eye as we were walking near our home last faul. It was almost the last leaf still hanging on the color and curl, I thought, were exquisite.

Spring seems far away with the cold, wet and miserable weather we are having, but these willow catkins are a reminder that it will come. They were photographed in the lane that runs around and behind our home and which we often walk.

These willow catkins were photographed in the lane that runs behind our home. Note the spider at the top.

We didn't see the spider but he must have been very busy on these Willow catkins, they and he other recent sigsn of spring.

Photographed along the Harding Icefields trail in the Exit Glacier area of Kenai Fjords National Park, these willow catkins were still fresh at higher elevations. Fizgig has identified these as Salix bebbiana, Bebb's Willow.
