Photographed along the road in the Texas hill country, this is Indian Blanket, Gaillardia pulchella, a showy wildflower.

This is one of our favorite wildflowers, though these are looking a bit ragged. Gaillardia aristata, Blanket Flower, is often grown as a garden perennial.

This Blanket Flower was photographed in Kootenay National Park in British Columbia but is found all over the western USA and Canada. We will be leaving shortly for Mount Robson Provincial Park and will be backpacking there for the next four days, so I not be on Ipernity.

The Blanket Flower is often used as a garden plant and has many color forms in cultivation. This grows as a wildflower along the Spokane River and is native to our area.
