Another photo taken on a morning walk with my wife. There is a park near our home that follows Fishtrap Creek and this photo was taken on one of the bridges where the blackberry brambles had begun to grow over the side of the bridge. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/01/frosty-morn...

This was taken last autumn on a walk with my wife through the park near our home. The yellow reflections are of the trees in their autumn colors. It seemed to need a bit of something, but I couldn't figure out what and finally just left it as it was. The creek is Fishtrap Creek and the park is simply named City Park. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2011/12/autumn-afte...

Salmonberry Blossom

The weather has been beautiful the past week and everything is bursting into growth and bloom. Along Fishtrap Creek here in the town some of the native plants are blooming, including the Salmonberries. The berries, which come later in the summer, look like large orange-red raspberries, and taste like insipid raspberries as well. They were traditionally eaten with salmon and thus their name. They are native to the west coast from California to Alaska but have naturalized in other parts of the world. Their botanical name is Rubus spectabilis and some cultivars are grown as garden plants. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2013/03/spring-walk...
