RHH's photos with the keyword: nisqually glacier

This is the lower end of Nisqually Glacier as seen from the Nisqually Vista trail near Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park. This end of the glacier is almost completely covered with dirt and rock, or was when we were in Rainier last summer. The water flowing from the end of the glacier is the beginning of the Nisqually River.

Here you can see how the previous photo of Nisqually Glacier fits into the whole scene. Nisqually Glacier is one of thirty-three named glaciers on Rainier and is the source of the Nisqually River. It begins on the upper slopes of Rainier, but the lower end is covered in rock and debris. One other note: when we were at Nisqually Vista, from which this picture was taken, there was a party of climbers crossing the level area at the right side of the picture. They could only be seen with binoculars, however.

Taken with a telephoto lens from one of the viewpoints on the Nisqually Vista trail at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park, this shows the end of the glacier and the source of the Nisqually River.

This was taken at the same location as the previous shot but shows the Nisqually Glacier which was only partly visible in that photo. The Nisqually Glacier is one of 33 named glaciers on Mount Rainier and is the source of the Nisqually River.
