The south west peninsula, specifically but not exclusively Cornwall, is the home of the pasty. Traditionally it was lunch for the tin miners, full of meat and veg with the thick rounded edge so that the miners could handle it by the edge and throw the dirty edge away. Still popular today for a quick and easy lunch/snack pasties come in several different flavours - lamb and mint does it for me
