➽ Hinterer Lech Nicht wenige der Augsburger Lechkanäle haben ihren frühen Ursprung in alten Flussrinnsalen, zum überwiegenden Teil aber sind sie auf eine künstliche Anlage zurückzuführen. Bereits im Jahre 982 ist erstmals ein Wasserlauf durch die Stadt in einer Niederschrift bezeugt. Als 1187 der Stadt erlaubt wurde, Wasser vom Lech durch die Stadt abzuleiten, werden zum ersten Mal die Lechkanäle erwähnt. Im Jahre 1276 zählte man in Augsburg fünf Lechkanäle mit zehn Mühlen. Der Hintere Lech hieß im Mittelalter "Geumulners Laech", benannt nach der hier gelegenen Geumühle. Nachdem Augsburg 1806 in Bayern eingegliedert wurde, entwickelten sich Gässchen wie Vorderer Lech (PiP1) , Mittlerer Lech (PiP 2) und Hinterer Lech (PiP 3) zu einem Viertel für Arme. In den 1980er Jahren führte man hier eine Altstadtsanierung durch und die damals etwas heruntergekommenen Häuser wandelten sich zu ansehnlichen Wohnungen, wodurch natürlich auch die Mieten gestiegen sind. Der vorher verborgene Hintere Lech wurde im Zuge dieser Sanierung wieder aufgedeckt. Im Anschluss ließen sich hier und in der Umgebung Boutiquen, Bars und Kneipen nieder. Wer schöne Wohnungen oder Zimmer in einer idyllisch-historischen Umgebung bzw. einem Altstadt-Ambiente sucht, ist hier goldrichtig. As early as 982, a watercourse through the city was first mentioned in a document. When the city was allowed to drain water from the River Lech through the city in 1187, the Lech canals are mentioned for the first time. In 1276 there were five Lech canals with ten mills in Augsburg. In the Middle Ages the "Hintere Lech" (rear Lech) was called "Geumulners Laech", named after the "Geumühle" (Geu mill) located here. Bertolt Brecht wurde in dem Haus Auf dem Rain 7 am 10. Februar 1898 geboren. Das Haus befindet sich im Augsburger Lechviertel und ist ein einfacher, für das alte Handwerkerviertel typischer Bau. Unmittelbar vor dem Haus fließt der Hintere Lech vorbei, hinter dem Haus der Mittlere Lech. Es liegt also quasi auf einer "Insel", was man hier gut sehen kann. Bertolt Brecht was born on 10 February 1898 in the house Auf dem Rain 7. The house is located in the Augsburg Lech district and is a simple and for the old artisan district typical building. In front of the house flows a small canal, called "Hinterer Lech" and behind the house another canal, the "Mittlere Lech". So it's on an "island", what you can see here well. ➽ Der Hochablass, ein Stauwehr am Lech in Augsburg. Bereits im Jahr 1346 ist ein erster Wehrdamm an der Stelle des heutigen Ablasses urkundlich belegt. Seither erlitt die Wehranlage und ihre Gebäude immer wieder schwere Hochwasserschäden, sowie mehrere Zerstörungen in Kriegen. Seit seinem Wiederaufbau 1911/1912 ist der Hochablass eine massive Konstruktion aus Stahlbeton, die sich, auf insgesamt 145 Metern Länge, dreifach geknickt, durch den Lech spannt (siehe PiPs) . Errichtet wurde die heute denkmalgeschützte Anlage mit Fußgängersteg, Getriebehäuschen und Glockenturm im Wesentlichen vom damaligen Augsburger Stadtbaurat Otto Holzer. Der plastische Schmuck am westlichen Brückenkopf stammt von Josef Köpf. Der Flößer symbolisiert die durch den Hochablass ermöglichte Flößerei in Augsburg. Die Spinnerin symbolisiert die Augsburger Textilindustrie, deren Aufblühen der Hochablass ermöglichte. Since then, the fortifications and their building suffered repeatedly severe flood damage and some destruction in wars. Since its reconstruction 1911/1912 the Hochablass is a massive reinforced concrete structure, which spans the Lech, triple kinked, on a total lenght of 145 meters (see PiPs) . The today listed site with footbridge, transmission house and bell tower was built substantially by the former city building officer Otto Holzer. The sculptural decoration on the western bridgehead comes from Josef Köpf. The raftsman symbolizes rafting in Augsburg, which was only made possible by the weir.
