A rustic farm

The farming days are now long gone here but it must still hold memories for somebody. A passing moment frozen in time by me, of course. Seen near Aberdyfi in Wales. HWW, have a great day.

The River Dyfi estuary

A high view down onto the River Dovey (Aberdyfi -Aberdovey) and Cardigan Bay. The coastal village in the distance is Borth and then Aberystwyth yet further. Enjoy the weekend.

The doorway

As I pass an old series of farm buildings, all long derelict, this old doorway takes my fancy. Built to last, and last it did, it must have seemed quite normal to see this view every day. The seaside village of Aberdyfi is just below out of sight to the left but we see some of the miles of sandy beach with a large caravan site too. HWW, have a great day.

Aberdyfi boat pier

Here in the seaside village of Aberdyfi, boats have traditionally paid a big part of life. This pier looks to have been built for rather larger vessels rather than the odd canoe and small yachts I see in the water just below. Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) does however still have its own fleet of fishing boats that I am sure must use this sometimes. Enjoy the weekend.

The Bridge!

Well if it is, it is one only for ants perhaps :) A long walk along the big beach and dunes at Aberdyfi in Wales brought this to my attention. I guess children and animals got here before me. Enjoy full screen.

View of Bird’s Rock (Craig yr Ardeyn)

Another impressive peak here in the county of Gwynedd, Wales. At 258m ASL , not the highest mountain in Britain but it’s still an impressive hill. We have an old ruined house to add interest and also a fence to lead part of the way up to this very popular rock climbing destination. An old fort also sits high up there. Interestingly, around 1% of the entire British Cormorant population nest on the rock but there is a wide range array of other nesting birds too –hence the name. It is about 5 miles from the sea. HBM - A seat above Aberdyfi

A decision to do a panoramic walk from and above the Welsh seaside town of Aberdyfi brings us to this idyllic viewpoint overlooking the estuary of the River Dovey (Afon Dyfi). We are also looking southwards down the Irish Sea towards Aberystwth. Now venturing Northway’s over splendid hillside dotted with sheep before we drop down to the golf course and beach again for our return trip to the town below (out of sight here –and to our left). The weather was to turn better. Enjoy full screen. Have a great day.
