The Falls of Kirkaig.

24 Aug 2021 22 23 263
The Falls of Kirkaig is a wonderfully scenic waterfall on the River Kirkaig, south of Lochinver. This is about two miles away along a wonderful track from the little beach of Kirkaig where we saw deer as we traversed up the glen. In the distance as we walked up, we were tantalised by snatches of views to that wonderful mountain: Suilven. (see PiPs). Enjoy full screen. Herb

Loch Assynt view

A view towards the old ruined castle of Ardreck as we pass this spot for the last time on this holiday. As is often our luck, the weather decides to be at its best for the last few hours travelling south. A full description is on the PiP page, simply click in the PiP to go there. Enjoy full size and contrast the freedom of this sight compared with what our friends in Ukraine have today.

We have always been great lovers of Scotland and so have traveled and holidayed up there whenever we could. This was Summer 2014 and this time we got up to the Northern highlands. We had a week on the very top Northwest coast about 15km from this spot at a small village called Durness. Enjoy my memory and pleasure of it here in this photo. Best full screen

Cape Wrath lighthouse

Another built by Robert Stevenson in 1828 and was manned until 1998. This spot is famous for its fog and high winds as located at the most North-Westerly point of the British mainland. One of the buildings below it, is a little cafe, most welcome by its few visitors after making the trek or ride here on some of our most far-flung paths and lanes. Notice the red giant fog-horn here to the left. See adjacent photo for the view below.
