Out with the trap

11 Jan 2023 22 24 225
Back in Digley Reservoir country and as we see another rainbow we also come across this horse and trap. Two, local farmers it seems giving the horse some exercise and grandfather an outing. They seemed to have come across something interesting here? ps, I am reminded that this is a mule, not a horse! Enjoy the day

Issues Road wall and rainbow

Another capture from the Holm and Digley reservoir area. A very nice but wild farm lane here and quite wet too after very recent heavy rains. We are still some distance from our car but we are treated to a grand double rainbow as can be seen here. The PiP shows the same lane taken back in 2019 from the opposite side. Enjoy full screen and All the Very Best for the New Year.

Rainbow to Holme

Seen on the lane to the village of Holme near Holmfirth in Yorkshire. Showing a collection of dry stone walls. Have a great day

A wild lane travelling from the village of Holm, to where? In fact nowhere now –it meets our trans-‘Pennine Way’ if you follow it straight but the lane fades away in the distance. Once farms may have dotted this area, like it does a mile or so to the right here but nowadays, it’s simply a sheep and tractor lane, as well as being part of a round walk for us townies with a camera of course. HFF, enjoy the weekend. Nice full screen!

HFF- Group walk

Seen on the perimeter of Digley Reservoir near Holmfirth. The low level of water in this reservoir testifies to our dry summer but now, a few weeks later, I imagine they will have a lot more water in after days of heavy rain. Best full screen. Enjoy the weekend. Herb

Yorkshire wall pattern

02 Jan 2020 19 13 254
Around our way, up in Yorkshire and Lancashire too, come to that, we have lots of fields and often the separation between them are not made of wire or wooden fences but real quarried cut stone or in reality - rock! No wonder then that the same walls are standing as good as ever hundreds of years later. Now and again we can get to a point of view where the patterns are quite distinguished as here. Taken at Holmfirth, Yorkshire Enjoy full screen

Lost corner

30 Dec 2019 24 24 292
The Pennines of Yorkshire can be lonely at times. This dwelling of old - long abandoned, must have felt a million miles from civilization. No running water and no electricity or gas must have made life hard here with only the sheep for company. Now, even the most ambitious house renovator keeps clear. A great path though, especially with this lighting. Enjoy

Happy New Decade from Holmfirth

A new way at looking at old traditional subjects. No, this is not snow or frost but rather a different editing process of the bright sun shining on the grass, water and buildings. These are the same buildings of my last photo (pip) but this time looking down into the valley towards Digley reservoir, Holmfirth in Yorkshire. - -Deserves full screen! I wish all my viewers here a Happy New Year and of course a Happy New Decade too. Herb

Ramped fence

A view of the Digley Reservoir overflow. This reservoir is the bigger of two in a series near the Pennine village of Holmfirth. We visited this area last December, well before lock-down and have not had the chance to go back yet. A rather ornate fence and gate to this and guessing how deep that hole is, a good precaution. The gate, another HFF shot in PiP. HFF, enjoy the weekend.

A wall for Autumn

02 Nov 2022 22 27 229
An old walk back to Digley Reservoir near Holmfirth Yorkshire takes us alongside this wall. The attractive thing here is the berries on this Rowan tree. The other trees are just turning yellow and gold before the winds come, and before we know it they will be all bare. Have a great day. Herb

Double message fence

A view of the outflow inspection bridge of Digley Reservoir -near the village of Holmfirth. The Danger sign reminds us to naturally keep of this structure but it also reminds us that we are altogether restricted from visiting such places at the moment with this Corvid19 lock-down. Here in the UK one should only venture out to such places if you can get there by foot from you home, whilst socially isolating of course! Ah well- we can look forward to a future where such visits are possible again – Notice the sun is coming! HFF, enjoy the weekend and keep very SAFE
