We have now reached Lochinver, a village at the head of the sea loch Loch Inver, on the coast in the Assynt district of Sutherland, Highland. A fishing port frequented by European fishermen primarily from Spain and France. In 2020 it was the fourth largest whitefish port. We were actually staying in the nearby village of Inverkirkaig. The new fishing harbour is in the distant right. The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems.

One from my trip of last year in the high NW of Scotland. This taken not far from our holiday cottage at Inverkirkaig. The sea-loch is just at ‘slack-water’ and after a cloudy day the sky clears and the water starts to show some long awaited reflections. We could see this small yacht from our chalet windows and it never did sail away. Enjoy the weekend.

HFF…. Will wars never end? A memorial to the fallen of the Great War of 1914-1919 here in the peaceful coastal village of Lochinver in Scotland. Sadly for the population in and around The Ukraine, it seems that wars will never end. The preceding photo shows the main front of Lochinver, this memorial just to the right. Enjoy this in peace, so far away from our Ukrainian neighbours this weekend and spare them a thought in their hour of need! Have a peaceful weekend. Herb
