1989 and we have arrived at Loch Broom, the big sea loch on which its famous small town of Ullapool sits, an important stop-off point for this North Coast 500 tour. We are at the eastern end here with Ullapool the white line in the far distance. The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems. I am doing this virtual road trip clockwise as our Ipernity friend Roger does it anti-clockwise. We are hoping to meet up in Durness.

An old 1989 slide from my skiing days. This time in Switzerland in the wonderful village of Wengen from where we went down into the valley on the little cogwheel train to Lauterbrunnen a few times. Here is a shot of the 300m-­high Staubbach Falls. Just a fine mist encircled by natural mist floating down from up high. ~ Taken with my Canon A1 SLR on Fuji. Some minutes ago on this 4th of January, I hear on the BBC that temperatures in many of the Alps winter resorts were a hot 20C yesterday. One wonders where it will all end up. Will these snowy photos of bygone years be the last? PiPs Have a great day

A blast from the past here. One of my January 1989 slide shots taken on skis, at sunset from Kleine Scheidegg, Wengen, Switzerland. I was reminded of this scene whilst photo-site travelling today. Some viewers here might remember this being in my Panoramio account too. A favourite spot for me, especially after reading the famous 'White Spider' (North face climb attempts) by Heinrich Harrer.
