An autumn walk along my local linear park just some days before the leaves were stripped away by wind and rain. HBM, enjoy the week.

After a heavy frost and snow during the night, I pluck up courage to venture into my local valley for some winter light and snow. Almost at the end of my little trip the sun was starting to burn the snow away leaving clouds of mist rising from the tree trunks. Here is the results. Enjoy the day.

Another capture from our show day just 48 hours ago. A different look to this as the snow was still falling and the skies very grey. ~ Today all the snow is almost gone as the temperature rises to a balmy 8c. Enjoy full size.

A walk in the countryside is always good for the soul so here we are in our local area enjoying fresh air and light whilst keeping healthy. A yellowish scene as Autumn is well established here. The fences are in fact the guard railings on a small bridge over the local stream. Enjoy the weekend.

As the Winter here in Oldham carries on forever, there are some benefits. Here we stroll down one of my local walks which is transformed into a Winter Wonderland. Lees near Oldham, is not known for its beauty! However, when one knows where to go, it has a wild beauty beyond measure as seen here on this very cold day. HFF, I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb

As a sudden early morning mist greets me, it’s time to run out with the camera again. Here we are looking up a path I normally only take coming down as it is part of a round walk. This curved path and fence has been a favourite photo subject of mine for many years now and I am pleased that its beauty has not yet decayed. Best full screen. Enjoy the weekend. Herb

A walk from my home, this only about 10 minutes away can be a splendid experience, even in Winter. Here we see the results of our first real snows of this 2015/16 Winter and a day after it was almost all gone.

After a short section of muddy paths though trees I come to a short stretch of cobbled road. Always partially flooded as the nearby river runs over but more normally because of run-off from the hill and blocked drains. In dryer times we could walk through the special gateway but not today in this wetness. Enjoy the reflections and light as I saw them. Best full screen. Have a great day.

A rare November snow-fall brings photographers and fun lovers out to play. This boy tries the lower slope of this path before venturing to the steeper top part. Of course his dad keeps a careful watch on him. I am stood on a footbridge that may be familiar. See Pips. Have a great weekend. Herb

As the warmer days of summer reveals itself with longer days and warmer light, we are reminded that winter has not quite gone yet. A local walk down our linear park shows fresh snow on both the fences and greenery here. Enjoy full size and have a great week.

A beautiful winter look at my very local linear park. This used to be the railway track route from Oldham to Delph, many years back known as the Delph Donkey line. Opened in 1849 by the LNWR (London & North Western railway) connecting my local town of Oldham to the main Huddersfield to Manchester line. A mixture of steam engines ran on here including the famous Fowler 7F’s and Austerity 2-8-0’s. It was closed in 1963 and turned into a cycle & walkway in 1964. As you can see, it can be a real beauty. Enjoy full screen.

A lone tree that I have known most of my life. It still sits forlornly in my local valley not far from where I was brought up as a boy. I have seen this valley bottom transformed from a wild wilderness, to a mini golf course and then into a lovely natural park-way which is now part of the ‘Oldham Way’ long distance walk (for us anyway :)) enjoyed by many local walkers and dog walkers alike. The tree however is now a shadow of even the one you see here on which birds used to sing. Just a dead stump about half the size of this younger self. Enjoy full screen

Another local scene albeit set in a rather artistic way here, taken in winter conditions way back in 2009. The children are gathering up snow for their snow-ball fight. I am walking down our nearby linear park walk towards the suburb of Springhead. Enjoy full screen.
