Just a stroll from my home, this fenced bend attracts me like a moth to flame. Taken on the onset of our first snowfall of the winter of 2014/15

Memories of Tuscany: Classic Siena

09 Jul 2020 33 36 283
My last photo from this wonderful city is one of the main streets up to the high centre of town. To me, this was my favourite shot of the trip. Its…well, just so classical Italian. I love the straw coffee colour of these buildings and any artist out there might be familiar with a couple of the main names for their paints: ‘Raw Sienna’ and ‘Burnt Sienna’, which are both very similar colours to what you see here. I wonder if the names derive from scenes of Siena like this?.... Our Ipernity friend Daniela, below, provides the answer. Enjoy full screen

As the morning mist rises from the water in my local park, the sun starts to show its head. Enjoy with me this moment of tranquillity whilst it last.

A blast of Winter

16 Feb 2018 33 52 716
As the Winter here in Oldham carries on forever, there are some benefits. Here we stroll down one of my local walks which is transformed into a Winter Wonderland. The fence forcing our eye and bodies to continue down the road wondering, "what is around the corner". HFF to all here in Ipernity NB: Late addition, see the PiP in top left for mono version.

Wastwater Scree

Without a doubt, Wastwater, England's deepest lake (79m) is moody. Here we see the scree on its East shore. There is in fact a pathway, just above the bottom trees for those brave soles that wish to circumnavigate the lake.

A Saddleworth Winter

Taken near the Saddleworth reservoir of Dovestones here in Lancashire UK, alas last Winter. Enjoy.

Chatsworth House and grounds from Curbar Edge

26 Mar 2015 6 5 394
A distant view of dreams and history. Deep shadows rise up to the milky mist of this Spring day. Surrounded by trees, Chatsworth House can just be made out. Look further and you may see a deer or two.The river Derwent on the right, snakes through the grounds and just to the left of the great house you can just see the glinting waters of the formal lake.
