As we reach the end of Loweswater and start our journey right-ways and up, we look further up the valley towards the Crummockwater region. We are treated here to the rainbow effect of the wet atmosphere and heavy clouds to the left looking at 'Whiteside' on the left and 'Brackenthwait Fell/ Gasgale Craggs' on the right.
Enjoy full screen as always here.

Taken from the gardens of our cottage owner, a grand view, even in poor weather. Our holiday cottage for a week is only metres away from here. Just at the feet of the larger fells lies the lake itself, of which we will see in due course.

The Wonders of Mallorca: Crags and limestone of…

A scene that might also be mistaken for the ‘Great Wall of China’ with its many tourist, but no this is still Isle of Majorca. As it is, this is only a viewing platform that shows the Mediterranean on one side and the mountains on the other. My Pip shows the other side to the sea.
Enjoy full size.

This mountain range described as the northern backbone of Mallorca runs from the southwest to the northeast. We see here, of course the Mediterranean sea looking north to the Spanish mainland and Barcelona some 180km away and behind to the right is Puig Major the highest mountain of this area.
Our road continues ahead along this coast now toward the famous Cap de Formentor lighthouse and then on to Pollença.
Enjoy this monochrome rendition in full screen.

The river outlet at the Northern end of this wonderful stretch of water here in the English Lake District is an ideal spot to relax and take in the splendours of this scene.

Seen from the N70 (Ring of Kerry road) looking South, past Killorgin and before Glenbeigh. A zoomed view of these high peaks as I skirt the sea shore to my North.

As the play of light alters by the second and the threat of heavy rain is imminent I share this view towards 'Haystacks'. Buttermere can just be seen at the centre bottom here.

In the Northern mountains of Mallorca lies this stretch of water. Very low now after a particularly hot and dry Summer. Not only a delight to photograph but also to stroll around.

Another retro picture here for the lack of brand new exciting photos in this C19 lockdown.
Taken whilst on a skiing holiday some forty years ago at the nearby village of Zell-am-Ziller, in the Austrian Tyrol. I took this just a short time before taking the same cable-car to the top ski slopes.

The Samaria Gorge, Crete

The entrance of the 18km long Samaria Gorge taken from Xyloskalo on the Omalos plateau. In the distance you can see the high peaks of the White Mountains. The plateau is particularly beautiful in the winter, when it is frequently covered by snow. Just out of shot, a slow line of back-packers make there way down the torturous path to start there long hike which is very hot and dry without any refreshment stops, each showing a special pass to guarding wardens.
In the past, the plateau of Omalos was the shelter of the locals and the base of rebels during the two and a half centuries of the Turkish occupation, but also during all other wars against invaders.

Without a doubt, Wastwater, England's deepest lake (79m) is moody. Here we see the scree on its East shore. There is in fact a pathway, just above the bottom trees for those brave soles that wish to circumnavigate the lake.
Over the Alps and far away.

Aboard our Boeing 737 at about 37,000ft up, it seems that we are not far from these mountain peaks but this has been zoomed somewhat and gives a false impression of closeness. Thankfully it was pleasant weather on our way through Germany towards Greece. Note also that it is late May and still enough snow for the skiers up these mountains. Afraid I do not know the exact location nor the name of the lake.
