A stream in Autumn
17 Nov 2019 |
|
|
|
Just a few minutes walk from my home within a tree-laden valley runs a little stream. It's normally very subdued but after weeks and weeks of continuous rainfall it is faster and higher then normal. Anyway, here is an attempt to slow it all down and give it more substance by using a very long shutter speed of 15 seconds with a x10 ND filter and a sturdy tripod. Catch the fallen Autumn leafs on the river bank here, As can be seen, a gentle breeze is blowing and moments later the heavens open up again as I rush back home protecting my lens and camera.
Enjoy large.
Loweswater calm

One of our 'Lake District' lakes -Loweswater on a calm day like today is a lake of dreams. I am almost afraid to make a sound with the camera in fear of braking this mirror spell. Enjoy!
Ingleton waterfalls trail: Baxenghyll Gorge
29 Apr 2020 |
|
|
|
Actually the fifth water event on this trail, Baxenghyll Gorge is a dramatic steep-sided gorge on the River Doe, The gorge contains a number of waterfalls, none of which seem to be named. My view here taken looking up-river from the high bridge that is suspended across this gorge, approx 60ft (18 m) above the river.
PiPs = downriver (adjacent photo) and four of the previous waterfalls.

These residential back-gardens are locked in by fences, a little like our lives by this C19 virus. On a brighter note, we see here a favourite reflection subject along this stretch of the ‘Peak Forest Canal’ in Greater Manchester.
HFF, enjoy the weekend.

Beezley Falls fence

Another look at these falls, this time showing part of the narrow trail that edges the river at so many points. As you can see a fence is sorely needed here. This trail runs up one river valley before returning via another and all along the path meanders, sometimes quite steeply up and down,
Best viewed full screen. PiPs
HFF, enjoy the weekend.
Classic Honfleur
06 May 2018 |

|
|
The classic view of Honfleur and its magnificent inner harbour. I have visited many seaside villages and towns like this but I must admit to this being possibly the best one for reflections such as this. I think you will agree with me, a perfect place for a walk, something to eat and some beautiful photos. The bright outside cafe awnings make a fitting contribution to this old town.
ps -deserves full screen treatment :) .............. See PiP's
Rio Algar
04 Mar 2018 |
|
|
|
The River Algar in Altea is very often dry, Here we see it with some water as it is Winter and the rainy season. Some days later it was to become almost flooded after several nights of torrential rain. You can see in the background part of the Sierra Bernia mountains.
See pips for mono and mountain views.
A dash of Winter

As another bout of cold weather descends on my home here in NW England, I take the opportunity again to walk my local paths along with my trusty Nikon. This path which seems, for 99% of the year mud bound, is now frozen and has a new layer of white powder snow. The small waterfall, S-curve and lovely green boughs of the pines all go together to make this almost a painting.
ps best viewed in full size.

Looking south from the top of the old fort Island. We see here the main promenade and newer part of the town. Below us are remains of the old fort and colonial barracks.

This beautiful scenic valley near 'Church Stretton', Shropshire is not only a delight to walk but also to photograph. Here is one of the many smaller waterfalls.
