A Big tree

As we walk beyond the Yorkshire Dales village of Middleham we pass this magnificent tree. It really was very big but despite it distinctive long leaves I cannot truly identify it. I also took a photo just of the centre part with the old barn thinking that was the major catch but no, I find I like this better. See PiP.

Enjoy the day.

A view from the back of this castle. After having explored the interior it is now time to continue our walk, up and beyond the village.
“Middleham Castle is a ruined castle in Middleham in Wensleydale, in the county of North Yorkshire, England. It was built by Robert Fitzrandolph, 3rd Lord of Middleham and Spennithorne, commencing in 1190. The castle was the childhood home of King Richard III, although he spent very little of his reign there. Wikipedia”

A view from the battlements of this castle, showing the small surrounding village. As can be seen the market town of Middleham is famous for its horse training industry as well as its castle that once housed King Richard III.
The PiP shows an internal view with a statue of the king.
I wish you all a Very Happy and Peaceful New Year tomorrow.

As we experience the fifth day of rainy fog I cannot but help thinking about our summer days of July here near Middleham in Yorkshire.
Enjoy the day

The Yorkshire Dales has an abundance of gates and fences, along with walls and old ruined barns. Here we see such a scene just a few miles from the castle village of Middleham taken on a round walk starting from the castle.

Have a good weekend.
