As we bask in hot sun at the moment, I am reminded here of our Springtime break in South Wales to cool us down. Taken from near 'The White Castle' and at the edge of 'Offas Dyke'. The hill is part of 'The Skirrid’, I think. The PiP shows another shot nearby. Enjoy full screen.

We are on our way to the summit and are looking down the hill onto the town of Abergavenny on the right. It’s a hefty climb from below to here but some souls are giving it a go. The River Usk also makes another appearance. To the left are the ‘Black Mountains’ range of Wales. Directly in front of us we see ‘Sugar Loaf’ mountain and then on the back right: ‘The Skirrid’. The blue sky you see here with this super wide angle shot was the last we saw for some days. Best full screen.

The last days of our South Wales week brought us to the small town of Abergaveny and its town centre castle. Here we are in the ruins of the great hall where many a banquet may have taken place. The castle dates from 1087 and was the site of a massacre of Welsh noblemen in 1175. Being attacked at least twice during the 15th & 16th centuries it was said that it was stained with the infamy of treachery more than any other castle in Wales. It lay in ruins by the late 18th century but its ‘picturesque’ views attracted many sightseers. PiP Enjoy full screen. Have a great day.
