------------------------------------------ With the title "The Cinema on the wall", the small town of Legro, a hamlet of Orta San Giulio, has been part of the national circuit of "Painted Villages" for 6 years now. This association brings together over 90 Italian localities with the walls of their houses frescoed by artists of national fame or by unknown lovers of the fresco technique. Legro is the only Italian example among the countries that are part of this association and offers an extraordinary open-air art gallery dedicated to the cinema. Translated with www.deepl.com/Translator ---------------------------------------------------------- Bitter Rice (Italian: Riso Amaro is a 1949 Italian film made by Lux Film, written and directed by Giuseppe De Santis. Produced by Dino De Laurentiis, starring Silvana Mangano, Raf Vallone, Doris Dowling and Vittorio Gassman, Bitter Rice was a commercial success in Europe and the United States. It was a product of the Italian neorealism style. The Italian title of the film is based on a pun; since the Italian word riso can mean either "rice" or "laughter", riso amaro can be taken to mean either "bitter laughter" or "bitter rice". Although Bitter Rice did not win any awards, it was nominated for the 1950 Academy Award for Best Story and entered into the 1949 Cannes Film Festival.
