Occupa l'antico incrocio delle due principali vie della città romana di Argentoratum. Al suo centro si può vedere la Statua di Gutenberg (inventore della stampa che risiedette a Strasburgo a partire dal 1434 per una decina d'anni e proprio qui mise a punto la sua invenzione). La statua del 1840 è opera di David d'Angers e quando fu inaugurata i festeggiamenti durarono più di 3 gg durante i quali sfilarono le corporazioni di Strasburgo nelle loro uniformi di gala. Sullo zoccolo della statua quattro pannelli rappresentano i benefici della stampa nel mondo. Sul lato destro della statua si erge il Palazzo della Camera di Commercio, edificio rinascimentale del 1585 opera di Hans Schloch: presenta arcate, due ordini di finestre ed alto tetto mansardato. Ogni fine settimana i banchetti dei venditori di libri si radunano ai piedi della statua. La Galleria Grande della Reggia di Venaria incontra l’arte contemporanea ospitando La giostra di Nina, l’installazione dell’artista Valerio Berruti. L’opera, inaugurata pochi giorni prima della chiusura dei musei di novembre, è fortunatamente rimasta lì ad attendere il pubblico. L’opera, che l’artista ha plasmato personalmente, ha un diametro di 7 metri e si ispira agli antichi caroselli. Di grande impatto visivo ed emotivo, l’opera si inserisce in maniera sublime all’interno della Galleria Grande tra giochi di luci offerti dalle enormi vetrate e gli stucchi del lungo corridoio della splendida residenza alle porte di Torino.
