Das Sydney Opera House (deutsch Opernhaus Sydney) ist eines der markanten und berühmten Gebäude des 20. Jahrhunderts und das Wahrzeichen von Sydney. Es geht auf den Entwurf des dänischen Architekten und Pritzker-Architektur-Preisträgers Jørn Utzon (1918–2008) zurück. Das Sydney Opera House wurde am 12. Juli 2005 in die Australian National Heritage List und am 28. Juni 2007 in die Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes eingetragen.[1] Dänemark sieht das Opernhaus heute als Bestandteil seines kulturellen Erbes an und hat es in Dänemarks Kulturkanon 2006 aufgenommen. Die Baukosten der Oper erhöhten sich während der Bauphase um den Faktor 14,3 und die Fertigstellung verzögerte sich um mehrere Jahre. Das Gebäude ist 184 Meter lang, 118 Meter breit und bedeckt eine Fläche von etwa 1,8 Hektar. Sein unverwechselbares Dach ragt 67 Meter hoch auf und ist mit 1,1 Mio. glasierten, weißen, glänzenden Keramikfliesen verkleidet, die aus Schweden importiert wurden. 580 Pfähle, die 25 Meter tief im Boden verankert wurden, tragen das etwa 160.000 Tonnen schwere Bauwerk. @:Wikipedia

März 1932 offiziell eröffnete Sydney Harbour Bridge (deutsch Sydney Hafenbrücke) stellt die Hauptverbindung zwischen Sydneys Nord- und Südküste über den Hafen von Sydney (Port Jackson) dar und wird von Einheimischen schlicht „coat hanger“ (deutsch: Kleiderbügel) genannt. Die Whitsunday Islands (deutsch Pfingstsonntagsinseln) sind eine Inselgruppe vor der Ostküste des australischen Bundesstaates Queensland. Die Whitsunday Islands bestehen aus 74 Inseln, von denen 17 bewohnt sind. an der Grenze zwischen Queensland und New South Wales Tag 34 - 23.9.2013 - Tweed Heads ist die nördlichste Stadt im australischen Bundesstaat New South Wales und liegt etwa 100 km südlich von Brisbane. Sie bildet den südlichen Abschluss der Gold Coast von Queensland und ist an der Staatengrenze mit Coolangatta zusammengewachsen. Die Stadt Tweed Heads hat ihren Namen vom Tweed River, an dessen Mündung sie liegt. Tweed Heads wurde offiziell 1886 gegründet und hat etwa 52.000 Einwohner. Bereits Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts war der Ort nicht nur ein Zentrum der Holzwirtschaft, er und die Küstenregion wurde ein beliebtes Urlaubsziel. Heute reiht er sich nahtlos an das Erholungsresort Gold Coast an und ist auch ein beliebter Altersruhesitz. Tag 36 - 25.9.2013 Am südlichen Ende von Coffs Harbour fließt der Boambee Creek in den Pazifik. Die Strände hier sind traumhaft und meistens leer. Ein Teil der angrenzenden Küste ist der Boambee Creek Reserve, ein Naherholungsgebiet das sich wie folgt beschreibt: Located on the beautiful Boambee Creek at Sawtell, this picturesque reserve is the ideal destination for families, groups and anyone seeking a tranquil setting to relax.
