Plas Newydd, ("new hall" or "new mansion"), is an historic house in the town of Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales, and was the home of the Ladies of Llangollen, Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby, for nearly 50 years. The King's Bridge (49A) over the Llangollen Canal

The King's Bridge carries the road from Pentrefelin to Berwyn over the Llangollen Canal, the River Dee and beneath the Llangollen and Corwen Railway viaduct. It was built in 1902-1906 and named to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII. Built of rock-faced rubble with arches in blue engineering brick, the bridge has five segmental arches set on three water piers at the south end and is threaded through one arch of the 1862 railway viaduct. The piers have triangular cutwaters on the upstream side. The northern arch spans the Llangollen Canal and is numbered 49A in the canal bridge series.

On the top of the hill to the right of the photo is Castell Dinas Brân, a medieval castle occupying a prominent hilltop site above the town of Llangollen in Denbighshire, Wales. The presently visible castle was probably built in the 1260s by Gruffydd Maelor II, a Prince of Powys. It's a lovely walk up there in good weather. The river in the foreground is the River Dee which has its source in the mountains of Snowdonia in Meirionydd, Gwynedd, Wales. The river eventually turns north and meanders up to Chester. From there the waters of the Dee then converge with those of the River Mersey and Ribble.

HFF and a good weekend to you all
