The Saturday Self Challenge for this week is: Our challenge for this week is: "Close-up in colour". Let's keep post-processing to a minimum. The colours are true, but I have cropped the photo to a square frame, and used Pic Monkey to add a simple frame.

Glass has the ability to refract, reflect, and transmit light following geometrical optics, and is therefore a magical substance. It can be also be ground in certain ways and used for optical instruments, spectacles, magnifying glasses, binoculars, telescopes. It can be heated and blown into decorative and intricate shapes, toughened to make windows, and coloured using various chemicals. The PiP shows the magnifying properties of glass. The thistle is etched into the base of the paperweight and is magnified by the half sphere of glass. The red line has been refracted.

November 5th 2017 TSC Challenge: Bottles. I have a few old bottles which I've collected over the years, so this was an easy challenge. The PiP shows by favourite bottle, a MORLAND & Co beer bottle with a marble in the neck.

This week's Sunday Challenge is: GLASS any way you like. This is a glass cream jug sitting on top of the glass cover on our cooker, with a bubbly red paperweight behind it.
