Or possibly the Essex Skipper, Thymelicus lineola These little butterflies were ubiquitous here, flitting around in the tall grasses and mostly sipping nectar from hard-heads, Centaurea / knapweed..

This was taken on November 18, 2021. The weather was extremely mild for the time of year, and the dragonfly was still very active. There were quite a few wild flowers still going strong, and some deciduous trees still had most of their leaves. This is just not normal in the UK.

This week in SSC: Let's use a "Shallow Depth of Field". Along a narrow pathway separated by a barbed wire fence from a country road, this was an ideal place to use a shallow depth of field photo. The road and fence almost disappear.

Aricia agestis is a very small butterfly with a wing span of only 25 - 31mm. The upper-wings are brown with orange spots on the wing edges. I didn't manage to get a good photo of this.
