Globe for Sunday Challenge 138- Maps or Atlas
This photo is blurred on purpose.

What I therefore mean is that I decided not to travel any longer, not only because mass tourism destroyed the soul of the places and the spontaneous relationship we could have with other cultures but also because when you see the film “Legacy” of Yann Arthus Bertrand you understand how far the destruction level of the planet has reached and the reason is our way of life, our insane greed for more…

I was never a consumerist, always chose quality versus quantity as being taught as a child, never waste. I have the luck to live in a region that produces naturally all year round, so I eat local, sustainable and in the right season. I do what I can but nobody is perfect.

I stay around my place, enjoying nature and all the beautiful things we can always find in our surroundings when looking at them with humility and respect.

I agree, touristic places are not very nice to visit.

MASS TOURISM IS A PLAGUE, YES.
But I love to travel for knowing new countries and people, my choices are always something that can put me in contact with inhabitants and local life. Also historical places can be very interesting for the knowledge of the past.
Your picture is intriguing !

Some decades ago diferent people of different cultures could discover themselves mutually. Nowadays with tv and internet when you visit you are more a product than a source of knowledge…
But I know most people don’t care, they just enjoy the moment without second thoughts. Maybe they are the happy ones?
Only my humble opinion…

It's amazing that most of the damage has occurred in the last 200 years, as technology has improved and the pace of living has changed.

Started with industrial era but was still sustainable when we are born. In the last 50 years with the plastic era the real destruction started… junk industrial food production, desappearance of small shops engulfed by supermarkets, publicity systematically frustrating people and leading them to over consumption…
In 50 years we lost over 30% of wild animals species and humans keep going despite knowing they are running to Armageddon… but do politicians and economic consortiums want to give future a chance?

I am still reading it.
And in my mind, it is possible that it will take a long time to read.
After the untimely death of my best friend, things have gone that way, slowly.

I like it! Especially with the globe...who says that photos can't be blurry to look good? :-)
I know what you mean about traveling. Same here, well, within Germany and other European countries. My travel days to exotic destinations are over, too expensive, too much stress...and there's still much to be discovered in Europe and in my own country.

The photo fits in wonderfully.

On the one hand, it's good to get to know other places and their inhabitants in order to break down any prejudices, and curiosity is also a driving force.
I also think that we have a good place here in Germany with culture and nature.
But it's also true that you have to travel further and further out to get into the great outdoors.
