Following on from what Peter said (above:):
In England in the 18th century, pineapples were often the centrepiece of table displays, and people who could not afford them used to rent them for dinner parties etc and give them back afterwards. Because of its value and rarity, the pineapple was often see in art and in architecture.
Give it more warmth, sunshine and water.
Good photo though, like the angle of the light on the leaves / fronds of the crown.
