Cabo Espichel, Capela da Memória, HFF

The Chapel of Memory is located in Cabo Espichel municipality of Sesimbra, parish of the Castle, Setúbal District, being integrated in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pedra de Mua.
With a quadrangular plan and little raised walls, the temple is crowned by an unusual counter-curved dome, in the shape of a bulb, finished by a pinnacle boleado (but whose terminal ball disappeared in the 90s of last century).
Surrounded by a small belvedere with a churchyard, from which one can see an extraordinary panoramic view, the interior is covered to half height by blue and white 18th century tiles from the beginning of the second half of the 18th century, representing the discovery of the image of Our Lady of the Cape, the construction of the hermitage itself, the church and the hostels and the "candle" or pilgrimages of the time.
The temple, of medieval origin, was built precisely in the place where, according to tradition, the image of Our Lady was found.
