I think they used to put sheep on grass roofs in Scotland in the past - that rings a bell....

I just read something in Wikipedia about their traditional diet. Not a place for vegans.

Vegans would never have surived there;-)

Indeed, and vegetables are awfully expensive... and not so good. But they have berries. Maybe people can survive on that. And maybe some vegetables adapted to cold like cabbage because temperatures do not go under 0º on the Feroe, thanks to Gulf Stream.

Traditional is not for vegans, but among younger people there is an evolution and in markets you find a great variety of fruits and vegetables.

J'ai bien fait attention à ne pas y aller dans cette période. C'est surement hypocrite de ma part... mais parfois il faut savoir éviter ce que l'on n'a pas le pouvoir de changer ou combattre.

on retrouve le style très nordique .. comme en Islande ; c'est étonnant ces toits en herbe; parfaitement isolant

The houses must have been dark, smoky and damp! Interesting to see that they used birch bark for insulation just like they do in Norway.

I love this series. There are many grass roofed old houses in Norway, and I think that goats were/are used to keep the rooves 'clipped'.
Also the diet is similar to that of Norway, mutton and dried fish being popular. I have tried whale meat - but hated it..

I am mostly a vegan... not for philosophy but just because I love vegan food... and I have the priviledge to have real natural biological fruits and vegetables...
Their diet is according to the cold, they need rich fat meat...or fish.
I've never tried whale... do not really intend to go for it, but if it is in front of me I will give it a try... maybe next summer in Iceland.
