7084. Queen St. West - A bit of Old Toronto shewing Foresters Temple at Back.

Great card with the H G L camera emblem on the back. Posted in 1907 at Formosa, Ont., with a squared circle cancel, to Miss Ludwina Fisher, Formosa, Ont. with the following message: The fox loves the valley, The deer loves the hill, The girls loves the boys, and they always will. From a friend of the 8 line. ["8 line" would presumably be the Eighth Line, i.e. a rural road in the countryside] This would be Queen and Yonge before Simpson's was built, I guess, looking SE at the Temple Building at NW Bay and Richmond -- the tallest commercial building in the city in the period around 1900. Advertising for Quaker Oats and H. W. Tisdall, apparently a watchmaker or jeweller. Appears to be part of a Coca Cola billboard at extreme right as well.
