Female Downy Woodpecker... in the sugar maples out front... As there is no red flash on the back of the head, she's definitely a *she*.

This past weekend was a wonderfully warm and sunny span - perfect for exploring and people-watching. ...loved the contrasting brick and stonework of the building, the happy planter boxes, and the relaxed character with his coffee.... it all just flowed...

Spotted on a walk... spent a moment or two trying to decide what kind of bird it was...finally zoomed in... and realized it was a "not-a-bird"! ... last fall's milk weed pod was doing a graceful imitation for me...

After this past round of thunderstorms, these blossoms are now a litter of pink tears , strewn across the lawn.

The magnolias did not last long in this heat, but they sure have been a showy sight for the past week!

Listed, but not designated, as a historical building. Albert Kahn was a very young architect when this was built. The design mirrors the early modern industry modular design of the Packard Plant, Detroit. The exoskeleton is in the rebar and beam design of the outside walls.

The attic window ( unlike the cupola) is authentic...

Nope - neither this cupola , nor the covered rear porches were a part of the original build.
