La "réticulation" est la résultante d'un éclatement de la gélatine qui fait monter le grain quand on lave un film avec une eau trop chaude. L'abus de netteté lors d'une numérisation d'un négatif produit le même effet.
Maintenant, on peut l'utiliser quand on cherche à créer un effet.

A lovely pair of portraits................I much prefer the effect of this B/W image though, mainly because of the better eye contact.

The B/W tones are really lovely as is the detail you've captured! A timeless photo!
