Small & bulky sketchbook-diary bound in black Harmatan goatskin. Red & black handsewn headbands. Lots of sand coloured Canson Mi-Teintes paper inside. Another older practice piece.
The cover features a vintage cabinet portrait of a lady who might have been my relative.

Handbound sketchbook/journal. Cover handdyed bookcloth; Inlay of original art, protected by a glass slide framed with copper foil. Handsewn maroon/ivory headbands. The cover boards are double thickness, an experiment I ended up being rather happy with.
Approx. 150 pages of natural white paper inside.

"In selecting the thickness suitable for any given book, the size and thickness of the volume should be taken into account. The tendency of most modern binders is to use a rather over thick board, perhaps with a view to bulk out the volume."
Douglas Cockerell, 1901

Since I usually just carry things in my pockets, my bag contents are a bit spartan maybe. I use this bag when I go for trips that are longer than the usual stroll around the town.
Included in the picture:
- A wallet
- Sock garters for knee-high socks. The best thing ever produced by mankind
- Lip balm. I very rarely use lip balm but I got it as a gift and it smells exciting
- Black Jack solid scent, in a tin
- Ink pen and a fineliner pen
- Cahier notebook for sketches. This was a gift too. I think most of my belongings are gifts from nice people, or just things that I've found.
- Hand cream
- A passport, which I sometimes carry around because it's my only eligible ID
- I also seem to have a friend's passport, although it barely shows in this picture, it's underneath my own one.
I sometimes carry sunglasses too, but they're lost somewhere at the moment.
