Forgotten Folk

Forgotten Folk is my series of small coptic bindings made out of abandoned cabinet portraits. I have a habit of buying photography from the fleamarkets and some of them end up in books such as these - the best ones I tend to keep myself, though.
Some of these can be found from Libellus in Kuopio, Finland: www.pikkupietarintorikuja.fi/sivu18/aitat/libellus_aitat

The cover board of the incunable I was working on. Naturally, the other one was of completely different size, was attached in a different way and had a different kind of blind tooled design too.

Dyeing cotton yarn with onion skins; by far the easiest method of natural dyeing, and the one I had never tried before. With wool yarn it produced everything between deep orange and golden yellow, and cotton yarn which got the rest of the bath turned out yellow - pale yellow.

1st of June. Getting in touch with contact dyeing / eco printing a la India Flint. In the end it was easier to discard the sticks and just wrap the fabrics onto themselves. Also completely ignored the zen aspect of it and instead jumped on the bundles etc.
