Unter solchen Gerichtslauben fanden früher Gerichtsverhandlungen statt. Die Gerichtslaube Babelsberg wurde im 13. Jahrhundert in Berlin errichtet, dort wo heute das Rote Rathaus steht. 1871 wurde sie hier im Park Babelsberg unter Verwendung der Originalteile wieder aufgebaut. Der Park Babelsberg gehört mit seinen historischen Gebäuden zum UNESCO-Welterbe.

I think this is what we would call a Folly. It looks really beautiful up on the hillside surrounded by trees...................really well composed Wilhelm.

I also like the colour of the brickwork.............and of course the detail shown in the PiP.

Diese Gerichtslaube war ursprünglich mit dem alten Rathaus von Berlin verbunden. Als das Rote Rathaus fertiggestellt war, wurde das alte Rathaus abgerissen und das Material der Gerichtslaube gerettet. Im Park steht die Laube nun als freistehender Pavillon.

Es war ja auch die Zeit der Romantik, als man die Laube so idyllisch in die Landschaft setzte.
