finally - I can walk safely

It was easy walking at Mona's as the snow was deep and crisp and even, but in Östersund the snow is packed down from the traffic and I slipped within minutes and pulled a muscle in my thigh. I went straight to a shoe shop and bought these shoe spikes, that fit onto your shoes. No more slipping for me. (And you can use them to do a sort of tap dance on wooden floors, or at least, I do.)
