Photography and sculpture inspire and intrigue your visitors a lot, Ulrich; me too! Discussions and ideas - and links - abound and are instructive. For this alone your post deserves praise.
For my part, I see it as a metaphor for our animal essence, which our humanity has not been able to free from its condition and natural accidents. This gives food for thought, indeed, on the alleged superiority of the human spirit, so much praised by Nietzsche among others!
