Hanau-Wilhelmsbad: The Carousel

The carousel at Wilhelmsbad has been built at the end of the 18th century and was running - with some breaks - until World War II when a bomb destroyed the building. As late as 1964 the outer war damages have been remedied. 2007 was the start to repair the mechanical parts. It took until 2016 to activate the carousel again in full function. Several times the year it can be seen without covering and people can even take a ride on it. The costs of restoring had been 4,1 Mio Euro; most of this amount payed the owner, the Hessen state. 750 000 Euro were private donations by the citizens of Hanau.

Ach ich hatte es mir nicht so prachtvoll vorsgestellt und nicht so schön gelegen Ulrich.
Wie schön muss es sein, wenn es ab und zu zum Leben erweckt wird!
