Cows

In the west we are accustomed to seeing cows in fields and behind fences. In India, cows (vaches sacrees) are everywhere..on the streets, highways and roads. They forage and wander at will, into homes and shops, stealing food from street stalls, and eat cardboard boxes from the rubbish bins. They sleep in the middle of traffic and block roads. If you do not move out of their way they usually push you aside. Mostly they are gentle, but sometimes aggressive. I love seeing them wearing beads, with coloured horns and decorations, and can never quite normalise seeing them in such random and bizarre ways!
