A fantastic documentary, George!
However, compared to documentary reports on markets in Wuhan, China, the markets of Luang Praban still seem to be reasonably orderly and hygienic.

Thank you very much. I suspect they're fairly similar in style, though there may well be differences in what's available - I saw no bats here.

A fabulous series George. Yes definitely some things we would not choose to eat and I wish the wet markets were a thing of the past also. An interesting look into a very different way of life.

Thank you, Rosa. I think the main thing in these places is to stick to food which has been cooked. It's certainly different to the average supermarket though!

A great series George and also an eye opener for anybody not seeing markets like this before. No freezers keeping things cool here -just a slop of water no doubt but normally it all goes OK for the locals.

Excellent! But there is doubt about bats, pangolins and wet markets as Wuhan is more north than the traditional locations for these viruses. Still, I don't think anyone really knows (unless some Chinees officials know!)

Many thanks, Andy. I'd be surprised if bats in Asia don't go further north than Wuhan, as it's slightly closer to the equator than Sydney and the bats here extend as far south as Melbourne.

There are certain market stalls that would be best avoided I fear. Nevertheless you have shown us the colourful culture and general busyness here.

There are probably some things there I wouldn't eat, but I love these outdoor markets and wish that our culture wasn't as concerned about everything being sanitized and wasn't all Macdonalds and fast food.

I think the main thing is to be careful of eating anything that isn't well cooked, Ron.

I don't think much would have changed across Laos since your visit, apart from more motor cycles and endless mobile phones.

That a planetary virus has emerged from these ancestral traditions shocks my common sense. Or in this case it is only natural, and already common in the past of mankind.
It is not as dramatic a scourge as has transformed our sensibilities and our vulnerable western societies...... We definitely need to get back to our natural roots: this is the only lesson, in my opinion, of this Covid.
I do like your beautiful and so evocative series.
