Over Afghanistan

Over Afghanistan
Near Kabul at 12000 M. Our route passed over India and Pakistan near Kashmir, this airspace since closed.

Explored.

ADDENDUM: I'm using only my phone on this trip and, though the ipernity app allows me to post images, I find I am unable to add them to groups or to interact with others' images or comments. I've just briefly logged on to a 'real' computer, so please excuse me for not responding while away.

The 'standard' route from Singapore to Europe was across India, then skirting the disputed area and across Pakistan, then north over Afghanistan, Uzbekistan etc, and (apparently depending on winds) various routes across Europe. On our return we crossed Poland, skirted north of Turkey, then crossed Iran, the Persian Gulf and India. The website flightradar24.com shows the tracks.

Afghanistan wasn't a worry, Steve, but I had been closely watching the developments between India and Pakistan.

Strange, my daughter had a flight some days ago from Bangkog to Vienna and they avoided Afghanistan, see

Yes, the route your daughter's plane followed was more or less what ours followed on our return from Europe. Our flight to Europe followed what was a standard route at the time and was a few days prior to the military hostilities (re Kashmir) between India and Pakistan which have led to a re-routing away from that area.
