More 'Haystacks'
A group of large freestanding rocks on a hilltop. Long ago, it seems a visitor by the name of Murphy saw them from a distance and was quite convinced he could see haystacks. And that was how they gained their name ' "Murphy's Haystacks". In geological terms, they are known as "inselbergs".

Thats my learned word for the day ! "Inselberg" !

Uluru & many other familiar isolated mountains and rocks are too. I just didnt know the word !

I even found a list of them !

Lovely rock stacks, George, and I adore the PiP which could and should stand alone as a main photo. Having read more about these Murphy's haystacks. Apparently they obtained their name because a traveller in a coach saw the formation in the distance. He asked how a farmer could produce so much hay. As the farm was on a property owned by a man called Murphy, the rocks became known as Murphy's Haystacks. I wonder which is the best explanation? ;-)
