Beautiful animals and a fine shot! I assume these are wild, but are Emus also domesticated for meat or other purposes? Sorry for my ignorance on the subject. Thanks for your visit and kind words on my wife's great image!

Fortunately they're fairly docile in normal circumstances. Probably different if they feel threatened and they could indeed give a nasty kick then.

These were indeed wild, but I understand that an industry has developed for them in recent years: meat, leather and eggs (the shells are dark green and good for engraving).
