out of our heads exhibition

out of our heads exhibition
at vespers by paul fryer floats an extremely realistic figure over a bed. presumably moulded on a real person- which may have been uncomfortable for her to say the least- the figure is complete down to her fingernails, the lines on the palms of her hands and every last single hair. the girl is undeniably beautiful; the craftsmanship ot technology that has gone into copying her amazing, but can the artist claim any kudos from these, the most outstanding properties of this piece. is the figure a young naked female for a reason, or just as a crowd pleaser ?do her beauty and (apparent) vulnerability add to the artist's concept or not ? does it matter ? I like art that is beautiful, or fun, or makes me think , and I suppose that this ticks all three boxes, but I'm still left thinking that the girl and the craftsmen may have worked harder than the artist at this piece. at the art exhibition set in the aptly dark crumbling cellars of shoreditch town hall, june 2014
