gryphon bench end

gryphon bench end finial, holding man's head in beak. whilst in a late mediaeval style, and with what looked like woodworm holes, this figure had been carved seperately from the bench end, and affixed with two dowel pins, into one of which a rough iron nail had been driven; this and the lack of serious wear make me think that this may be victorian.
