the base of this font is c15, but the bowl, whilst it at first looks a simple c12 shape, has two big lugs on it, rarely seen on fonts. one or two fonts do have such lugs to support oil, a book or for some other practical baptismal purpose but here each lug seems to have been used for a lock fitting, as lead remains in holes in each lug. this may prove that it was in use as a font during the middle ages rather tha being some form of quern..
