st.mary's new church stoke newington, london

st.mary's new church stoke newington, london
the vast new hall church was built in 1854-8 by g.g.scott with tall thin columns topped with deeply undercut naturalistic capitals, each differing from the others. unfortunately, the church was gutted in the blitz, and the modern roof does little positive for the interior, especially in the nave, which uses timber of thin scantling and what look like asbestos panels. oh, for a gambier parry; or let me at it!
