Escape from recent events.

Dear media: Stop trying to normalize fascism. The Deutsche Welle commentator tried to explain this away with "No one knows but Elon Musk" what this was intended to be. Well sir, he did it twice and American neo-Nazis are celebrating. They knew what he intended. Within hours the U.S. President that he bought issued orders to halt immigration, remove legal protections from minorities, end birthright citizenship, end family reunification programs, and begin a mass deportation. And that's just the start.

For many years it seems there is always a crane in the view from here.

A small section of filbert orchard removed due to filbert blight. Disease-resistant trees will be planted soon.

Once a busy streetcar stop for the city's only hospital on one side and a sports stadium on the other, it's now just a busy street with speeding cars and narrow bike lanes.

U.S. Thanksgiving 2024. The first Thanksgiving since 2018 I've been able to use my entire kitchen table. Lefse, Gewürtztraminer, mushroom gravy, Kürbiscremesuppe, sourdough dressing, sweet potato - cauliflower mash, and cranberries. That Gewürtz bottle won't fit in my refrigerator, so better finish it off :)
