Sidelong glance

Haliwa Saponi Powwow, Hollister, NC. 113 pictures in 2013: #81, copycat (copy of photo or idea you admire). This is in the mode (American style) of one of my Flickr contacts, ajpscs, whose work I really admire. He's in Japan. He manages to get still, clear, detailed, close-up candid portraits of people in the midst of activity, at ceremonies, or just in public places. While he often adds an explanation of the significance of the tradition or the event he's shooting, his images seem more personal than documentary. Below is one example of of his many such "studies" that inspired me for this photo.
